Sampaw Hills - Leyte, Leyte

Let’s go to Sampaw Hills of Leyte, Leyte.

Just 2 kilometers away from the central town of Leyte. This 318 feet tall, breathtaking grassy landscape creates a scenic backdrop of the town. A perfect natural viewing deck to gaze out the Mt. Canjamampaay in the east and the Leyte Bay in the east.

This rolling hill is a perfect place for picnic and hiking with family and friends especially during sunset time. And for those adrenaline junkies, this spot is good for the trail running and mountain biking. In fact, this was recently used during the annual Leyte Garden Town Enduro Challenge.

Cogon grasses dominates the landscape and there are also few Binayuyo trees that survived here even after fire. The fruit of binayuyo is like a tiny cluster of grapes and is safe to eat. It is sour when colored green and very sweet when it turns black.

So what are you waiting for, have a nature break and experience a relaxing environment of the Leyte town’s pride, the Sampaw hills.

Don’t forget to leave no trace. Be a responsible visitor and don’t leave your trash anywhere.
