For us to reach Apale falls, we traveled for over an hour from Ormoc City to Barangay Apale in Isabel, Leyte. Near their barangay hall, we took a small path and hiked for ten minutes to reach Apale Falls. As we are approaching, we could already hear the rush of the clear water, almost inviting us to swim in its cold waters. At the upper part of the falls, there's a small pool where you can enjoy the flow of water, almost like being in a jacuzzi.
Honan Falls
Honan Falls, on the other hand, features a taller, double-drop waterfall that plunges into a deep pool. The path and the surrounding area is relatively undeveloped, offering a more raw and untouched experience for nature lovers and hikers. The trek to the falls can be a bit challenging, as it involves descending slopes and navigating through forested trails, but the scenic beauty makes it worth the effort.
From barangay Apale, we took another 10 minutes ride to reach sitio Utap of barangay Matlang, Isabel Leyte and hiked for almost 10 minutes to reach the site. The water from Honan Falls is also clear, and the force of the falling water creates a mist that cools the air around it, adding to the tranquil ambiance. The surrounding area of Honan Falls is characterized by rocky cliffs, lush vegetation, and occasional wildlife sightings.
Both waterfalls offer a refreshing escape from the heat and a chance to connect with nature in the beautiful landscape of Isabel, Leyte.
