Exploring Catmon Falls in Barangay Can-andan, Isabel, Leyte

Located just a 10-minute ride from Isabel town, Catmon Falls is one of the hidden gems of Barangay Can-andan. If you're seeking an off-the-beaten-path adventure, this scenic spot is well worth the trip.

My journey began on a sunny afternoon, riding my motorcycle through the winding roads of Isabel. It only took me about 10 minutes to reach Barangay Can-andan. Along the way, in a small settlement called Sitio Igasud, I encountered two young local boys who kindly offered to guide me to the falls. With their help, I set off on a short but memorable 15-minute hike through the forest.

As we ventured deeper into the woods, the first thing that caught my eye was the stunning rock formations, evidence of nature's work over thousands of years. The cliffs that lined the narrow path had been carved and shaped by the river flowing beneath, their moss-covered surfaces adding an ancient, mystical feel to the scenery.

Some portions of the rugged cliffs and rock ledges are covered with ferns and moss, creating a picturesque setting as we maneuvered carefully across the natural terrain. At times, we had to balance along narrow ledges, as the path follows the river gorge. The kids led the way, navigating the rocks with ease while I tried my best to keep up.

Finally, in the opposite side of the river, we reached Catmon Falls, and it was truly breathtaking. The water cascades gently down the moss-covered rocks, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The lush greenery around the falls adds to its beauty, with vines and plants draping over the rock faces. The surrounding trees form a natural canopy, allowing sunlight to filter through and illuminate the area in a warm glow.

Standing there, I couldn’t help but admire the way nature has shaped this hidden paradise. The waterfall, though not very high, is mesmerizing with its crystal-clear water trickling down the mossy rocks, giving the place a tranquil vibe. It felt like a hidden oasis, untouched and secluded, perfect for those who want to escape the crowds and reconnect with nature.
